The rotating screens and mirrors Smith of Derby created for this exhibition follows a similar model to earlier installations but the inclusion of moving parts heralds a completely new development that combines the architectural and theatrical elements already within their work in a previously unseen manner. The final result expands from an architectural template to a design based on a clock mechanism. Moving images captured by the architecture of the installation combine the realities of change and relocation, with the hope of travel. Featuring equipment employed in the mass movement of people by air and rail plus a motor, from Smith of Derby clockmakers, which drives the unrelenting rotation of the screen.
